Two years ago, I moved to Berlin and it felt just like a lasting affair. The alternative life style of the city and the craziness of its people is definitely on the Edge.No wonder why so many young and creative people are flocking to Berlin to go after their passions. Here’s why I think this city is the craziest in Europe.
In Berlin, everyone is home!
People from all around the world call this city home. It doesn’t matter what you look like and it doesn’t matter where are you from, this city will embrace you for who you are.
The crazy parties, obviously!
Berlin is known for the craziest parties on the planet, where else would anyone party from Thursday to Saturday, to wake up on a Sunday morning, enjoy a good breakfast then go back to the club and finish what was begun? (Inside Berghain For The First Time. Here’s What It Was Like!)
The Alternative subculture
Unusual life of subculture and a lot of alternative things can be seen everywhere. From Grafitti and street art, abandoned buildings to flea markets and punk bars.
Even creeps are welcome here
if you want to stare at people on the street without them thinking of you as a creep, then this city is definitely the right one for you. You can stare at the people passing using this Spotoscope (it works like binoculars, but instead of zooming in, you can watch people from above), just please don’t forget to draw the curtains when you’re inside the, it’s creepy otherwise…
You can still follow the traces of the Cold War in West Berlin
In West Berlin, civil defense shelters were reactivated or newly built in preparation for a possible nuclear war. These shelters do still exist and they are used nowadays as underground stations, parking garages, and storage facilities. Through discovering these shelters, you can relieve a part of the reality of being in West Berlin during the cold war.
