As a person who loves to be somewhere new every now and then, I kind of started to find different ways to turn the plane ride from a stressful thing to a place to relax and make use of my time. As Food is never an issue on short flights, it definitely becomes a necessity on the longer ones, especially since I eat A LOT and the plane food isn’t really that much of a meal for me. So the question I was trying to figure out is, can you really get an extra airline meal, and at no extra charge?
Well, the answer is yes and no. This really depends on what flight you are on, how friendly the crew is at that time or stressed they are and how much food they brought on board (which usually exceeds the number of people on the plane). The key is to simply ask. There’s nothing wrong with asking and you’ve got nothing to lose. The more polite and friendlier you are, the more likely you will get the extra meal. Few others have probably asked the flight attendant the same question, if you sound like a demanding prick, the answer is going to be no.
Exceptions to this..
There are of course few exceptions to this. Budget Airlines make you pay per item, so if you want anything extra, you will have to pay for it. Shorter flights tend to be harder to get an extra meal on, but how about an extra coffee? It can also be that the airplane is fully booked and many people have been demanding different things throughout the flight, either there’s no food left or the flight attendants are tired, your chances for the extra Airline meal are now of course much lower.
Whether you’re on a business trip or going on an adventure, flying could be very expensive, I wrote another article on how to cut low the costs of flying that you definitely need to check out: Find The Cheapest Flights And Save Money The Easy Way
Also, let me know in the comments if you had any experiences in getting an extra Airline meal
